Hi! Do you know how to get rid of the message "This Blu-ray is Region B encoded (Europe). Your player must be a different region". It appears in the EUREKA! edition of YANKS! (https://onkyo4k.com/threads/yanks-1979-1080p-gbr-blu-ray-avc-lpcm-2-0-kyrls.413947/) My standalone Blu-ray players are Region B, and the disc gets stuck on that screen no matter which one I try. Does anyone have a suggestion to fix this without ripping the movie to an MKV? Thanks.

From past experience I believe its not been ripped correct not a lot you can do. You can rip it again as movie only. @littleredridinghood

There are tools available to edit the 'index.bdmv' and the 'MovieObject.bdmv' files to change or outright disable the region restrictions.

There are a few commercial products that remove region / country restrictions (anydvd being the best) but there are quite a few cases where they don't work. The Eureka edition of Yanks is one of them. Either you have to manually edit stuff, lik Sammybear says, or you'll have to wait for a proper rip. -

There are many movies that were released with unbroken (and unbreakable) protections, and haven't been proplerly released since. I have a few in my "waiting for a fix" folder for almost ten years. The Criterion releases of Metropolitan and Secrets & Lies also have protection that cannot be removed.

And some others with the "you're playing this on a pc" protection that mutes the audio after 30 minutes. Lionsgate discs mostly. Very annoying.

I believe from the above comments the best solution is also the easiest...just rip it to an mkv file, grab the popcorn, and enjoy the movie.

I downloaded Yanks yesterday and seems there is only a trailer as the extras so your not really loosing anything good.

I have all my discs on external hard drives that can be plugged into my TV's USB socket. The main movie m2ts can then be played directly, bypassing region codes etc. -

Obvs you need a TV with appropriate codec support (AVC/DTS usually).

@dodgysteve I do similar with external hard drives but run my content through a Dune HD Max Vision 4K player. Older piece of kit but it can play pretty much anything -

@Onkyo: Looks like the Criterion Collection 4K discs of the new Kubrick Collection are out. Very much looking forward to your posts as the files on another site are broken and the last time I ran into this from this group, direct downloads from Usenet did work. Thank.

@bulletdodger : To watch iso and BDMV movies on big screens (Videoprojector and TV), I use a Mac Mini M4 (small and silent) with Infuse Pro application bypassing all region codes and protections and search tool for missing subtitle. To copy protected Blu-ray, I use DVD-FAB, it gives working iso files. -

i bought a zidoo player two years ago. content is served via nas & internal hdd drive. great picture quality, lossless audio, and it plays everything i throw at it.

@Onkyo: Thanks very much for posting some of the new Criterion discs. As I suspected, these file work properly. Don't know what happened to the files on another site, but happy to have working discs. Still anticipating Spartacus and Paths of Glory, but I'm sure you will get to those.
