@Sammybear I am having difficulty with the posting for 'The Half-Breed 1916 / The Good Bad Man'. VLC says it is still encrypted whereas BDInfo and TSMuxer kick out errors. I don't believe it is from errors during downloading. I am pretty sure it is a problem with the source image. Anyone else having problems with this posting?
@Thank you @RogerRabbit. I had the post on a separate tab and never refreshed it. I will be sure to be more careful. By the way, what is the trick for having your shout entries appear in their own box. I like it
@Onkyo : I like DVDs, you can upload them more frequently, especially for rare movies/series/documentary and so on that are only on DVDs and not available on other media as Blu-ray etc ...
Yes, DVDs are awesome. Sometimes it’s the only option for certain titles, other times it can have certain exclusive features, may even be preferred over the blu-ray in some cases.
@Onkyo No DVD for me. It's a dead format, with mediocre unwatchable quality. I really don't see the point. And you have already a lot to do with 4K and blu-ray, so adding DVDs would mean less 4K, which would be really disappointing, a clear minus. So, for me: more 4K, and no DVD, and no VHS Thanks!
@Onkyo Also uploading DVDs on a regular base doesn't make sense in relation to your uploading logics, which follows 2 trends:
1 - uploading new releases: there have been no DVD new releases for like 15-20 years, the format was discontinued, meaning there's no ground for a regular DVD uploading
2- uploading films requested under the request department: whoever wants a specific title on DVD can already request it, and that's more than enough
The question I have is about the follow-on to Blu-Ray discs. As streaming takes over as the main distribution mode for movies and such, will there be a replacement for Blu-Ray discs that will maintain the quality level that we now have?
About DVDs : it's good to have them for what doesn't exist on Blu-ray or 4K and it is still a lot material for movies/series/documentaries ... Of course, if a title exist already in Blu-ray or 4K it looks like no use for DVDs but I agree with @Andy about some Bonus ...
And there is no time like the present to contradict myself... The movie 'Secret Agent' (1936) is the only major Hitchcock movie that has never been restored to the Blu-ray format. So having that on DVD would be nice.
@Onkyo Only movies or series that is not available on Blu-ray or 4k, but only on DVD, should still be uploaded, if you ask me. For now I only download 4K and if not available in 4K then I get the Blu-ray and if not available in Blu-ray then I get the DVD. But DVD is low quality today.
