Does anyone know of a program to change the language of a Blu-ray menu? Basically, I want to change it from Russian to English. As I understand it is not straightforward.
  13. K kingswear62:
BDinfo and a Hex editor as I understand.
  14. K kaminar:
Not aware of any way to alter the original menu, unless menu language selection is an option...it should depend on the actual release. Two different options would be to remux the BD to .mkv, or find a US/GBR/AUS release if it exists (some Canadian releases are in French).
  15. K kingswear62:
Okay so BDedit is able to do by identifying the menu in the m2ts stream. It then breaks the menu up into PNG objects which you can edit into your desired language using Photoshop. The problem you must keep the background colour and font exactly the same otherwise it looks out of place. You can then mux the menu back into the m2ts stream. A rather lengthy process given some menus are quite complex. This really is a last resort and if no other versions of the movie/tvshow are available.

Hi, there. I need advice on this thread https://www.onkyo4k.com/threads/state-fair-1945-1080p-blu-ray-avc-dts-hd-ma-1-0-iba.319387/ I downloaded and burned the movie, State Fair, but when I play the disc, there’s a WARNING: Your bluray Player requires an update to play the disc. I’ve updated my standalones and the warning is still there. I wonder if this is a kind of protection. If so, I think a remux is the only solution. I’ll appreciate your comments. Thanks.
  17. K kingswear62:
Have you tried this forum? http://forum.doom9.net/index.php These guys seem to be the leading experts on all DVD and Blu-ray conversion.
  18. bulletdodger bulletdodger:
@littleredridinghood: I discard the discs when I come across that warning, and make a remux. (an even worse warning is: "rip detected, or a rip tool is running if you're watching this on your PC")
  19. bulletdodger bulletdodger:
I'm sure there's a way to get around these, a couple of software like DVDFab and anyDVD get rid of most simple protections. But all in all, it's too much of a hassle, I burn and waste too many discs, and there's no guarantee that it'll work. It's the release groups' responsibility to get rid of protections, but sadly nobody cares anymore.
  20. bulletdodger bulletdodger:
@kingswear62: That forum is fantastic for a lurker to learn a lot of stuff. But once you ask a question, and they sense that you're trying to edit pirate copies, they boot you off the forum.
  21. K kingswear62:
In all my years of downloading from this forum I've only ever come across one file that displays the error "rip tool detected" which you are describing and that is this release: Benjamin.Franklin.S01D01.COMPLETE.BLURAY-OPTiCAL and that is out of a 1000 movies and 500 television shows. But you are right about doom9.net you have to be careful what you say on that forum.
  22. K kaminar:
The above discussion reminds me that BD .iso to disc is still popular. Having burned my last BD disc a long time ago (Verbatim Japan 50GB), I've been through several generations of BD players and streaming devices...WD, Amazon, Sony, Samsung and NVidia. With so many options to watch the same movie/video, based on video quality, audio quality and file size...i bet the forum member preferences range from pure online streaming to USB HD storage, all the way to multiple 60+ bay storage servers.
  23. K kaminar:
I prefer streaming full BD .iso or creating remux/BDRX and streaming those..getting the right AV setup in your home takes time and a lot depends on your budget.
  24. L littleredridinghood:
Thanks for your answers. I'll make a remux of the musical. Thanks again.
  25. K kingswear62:
If ever there was a movie that reached cult and mythical status it is this one: The.Crow.1994..2160p.UHD.Blu-ray.DoVi.HDR10.HEVC.DTS-HD.MA.5.1-ESiR
